Happiness is a Full Tank

 

[Almost] Daily email I was just thinking about when I go training out in New Jersey with a friend and mentor of mine.  There’s a pic (above) of the beach…  A little yoga and swim before a seminar... Ah, good for the body and soul! Stoking the Fires… It’s been a minute since I was out there training. The stars have not been in my favor… A lot of conflicts have gotten in the way this year… Excuses?! Hardly. I make training a priority and part of that priority is going out to see Jack and the crew… However, sometime Life does get in the way. Sometimes even the best laid plans don’t work out. I’ve been going out to train with Jack for just shy of 20 years. Religiously I would make the trek from Michigan to Spring Lake, New Jersey to train. Easy?! Nope. Expensive? Yep. Worth it? Absolutely! Bragging Rights?! No, I’m not bragging about it. Believe it or not, I’m trying to encourage you… How?! By sharing the insight that you are worth it. It’s important to dedicate the time to invest in yourself. If you don’t mindfully prioritize your own training, it will simply not happen. There will never be a convenient time. Something will always get in the way. You have to carve the time for it. Happiness is a Full Tank… Not only are you worth it, but so are the people you interact with. You see, if your tank isn’t full so to speak, you may not have anything to give to others… No time. No patience. No attention. No strength or endurance. No love. No second chance… No nothing… You have find ways to keep your tank full so to speak, that way when something happens, you have something in reserve to better deal with whatever life throws at you. If your tank is empty, you simply won’t have anything to give if the situation warranted it . Make it Simple… I hear excuses all the time. Typically they are around time and convenience… Sometimes money. So, plan it out and make the commitment to yourself! Start slow, make it manageable… The key is consistency If you’ve built some continuity early on, it’s easier to weather future storms. Another thing is to keep it sustainable. As I’ve been saying, set the bar low, so it’s achievable… Don’t worry, you can always raise the bar. Achieving a low bar goal is better than not even getting past the starting line. Full Service or Self Serve?! Going at it alone can be challenging, especially when you are learning something new.
