The Buzzard, the Bat & the Bumblebee

If you put a buzzard in a pen six or eight feet square and entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of his ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. 

The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground w/a run of ten to twelve feet. Without space to run, he will not even attempt to fly, purely out of habit. This habit would keep him a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

The ordinary bat is actually quite an extraordinary flying creature, however it cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle around helplessly. It needs a slight elevation to throw itself into the air in order to initiate its flight. 

If a bumblebee is dropped into an open container, it will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top. It will continue to try to find its way out through the sides near the bottom. It keeps looking for a way where none exists, until it completely exhausts and destroys itself. 

In many ways, there are lots of people like these three flying creatures. They struggle with all of their problems and frustrations, not realizing that the answer is right there above them.

I don't know who originally wrote that story...

And...

I'm not convinced that the details are entirely factual; regarding a buzzard need to always runs before takeoff, or a bat to drop, or that a bumblebee will not seek other exits above it...

However I do know this...

If you are a person who wants to deal with everything happening right now in life...

All of the challenges...
All of the conflicts...
All of the uncertainty...

Than you better begin to realize which of your habits hinder you and which
give you an advantage. 

We're in a time where the need for clear, out of the box thinking is essential for you to make it through this crazy ride with as little fallout as possible. 

It's time that you 'Look Up!'

When your habits are enslaving you and not giving you the answers, you can choose something different.

Are people from Crete Creteans??

Here I am in Crete. It is a pretty cool island. It is a bit more difficult getting around, but far from impossible. Most people speak at least a little english and I have gotten very good at asking (in Greek) if they speak english. I walked around about 15 miles today. Into town, around town, to all (and I do mean all) of their museums, archelogical sights, some cafe's and town squares. I really didn't even get lost today. Wow, I must be making some progress. Attracting An Assault?!

What's Your Rosebud?

  One of my favorite classic movies is: "Citizen Kane" It starred Orson Welles. [NOTE: spoiler ahead - if you haven't seen it] And, was about the life and legacy of a powerful newspaper publisher, based partly on the late William Randolph Hearst. The movie starts with Charles Foster Kane dying, with his last word being "Rosebud" — and the entire movie is this sort of question of what "Rosebud" is. Turns out it was simply the trade name of a cheap little sled on which Kane was playing on the day he was taken away from his home and his mother as a child. Welles revealed in an interview: "In his subconscious it represented the simplicity, the comfort, above all the lack of responsibility in his home, and also it stood for his mother's love which Kane never lost."
