Tony Robbins Had It Wrong...

 



I was first introduced to Tony Robbins waaaaaay back in the 80's, when he started doing those late night infomercials. 


I remember listening to his Unlimited Power program I got from Nightingale Conant (remember them!?) It came on 6 cassettes. I think I listened to them so much I wore them out!

I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but you have to admit he has quite a presence. 

I had wanted to see him live for many years... Well, years turned into decades...

I did finally get my chance a couple years ago at a convention I went to. The company that built the platform we use for the Private PeaceWalker Membership, brought him in to do a 5 hour program at their yearly convention called Funnel Hackers LIVE. Despite the corny name, it is actually a really cool event... and Tony was unbelievable. There's a reason he's been on top of his game for almost 40 years!

Well..

Tony recently put together a training program called the Ultimate Breakthrough 2022 Challenge. It's a free promotion, so I thought, "What the Hell. I'll check it out." 

It's pretty good, as I said, he's a motivating kinda guy...

Yesterday, (day 2 of the 5 day training), he did an exercise that was very interesting. A lesson that you'll totally appreciate. It's something that we discuss all of this time!

Day 2 of Tony's training was called EXPANDING YOUR IDENTITY.

That's right, he said that everything really comes from your IDENTITY.

He said that if you change your IDENTITY, you can change your Life.

I totally agree!

We talk about it here all the time!

Who you believe you are has EVERYTHING to do with the decisions you make, the actions you take and the Life you Live.


Here's Where He Fell Short...

It's interesting that even the great Tony Robbins lacks a certain amount of clarity regarding Identity though...

He says it... Kind of...But it lacked connecting that deepest identity that we ALL HAVE...

Well, two actually.

#1 - We are all Human
#2 - We are all Protectors

He alluded to it a few times, but he settled on more of a superficial, relative Identity. 

You have many identities. Mother, father, husband, wife, son, daughter, friend, fisherman, hunter, cop, teacher, business owner, soldier... you know, we wear many hats and that's fine... 

But deeper than all of those identities lays our two deepest. 

And those are the one's that are our most powerful, especially if we are going to walk our paths as PeaceWalkers.

If you clarify those identities enough, everything else will fall into place more easily. 

You'll know more what to do in every situation. 

Decisions become simpler. Doing the right thing becomes a habit. Success is the by product of knowing who you really are deep inside. 


So, I Think Tony Had It Wrong...

He did an exercise where he had people answer these questions:

1) What was your old identity? How does it need to be expanded to create the life you desire and deserve?

2) Who are you at your core? What is your new identity?

Not bad questions really, but I think you should start with these: 

1) Would you protect yourself if you had to?!

2) Is there anyone in your life you would put yourself at risk to protect? 

3) If you knew that person was going to be seriously harmed or killed if you didn't do something about it, can you think of anything more important than protecting that person? Money? Fame? Cool new car? Vacation property in Hawaii?

Those questions can begin to uncover just how deeply rooted your Protector Identity is within you... Within everyone.

If you want to tie those questions into success in business, career and (everyday) Life, than you then have to ask yourself...

4) How does what you do (in this case... your job or business) protect Life?! 

Keep in mind that Protecting Life doesn't just mean protecting it from physical harm... 

Doesn't helping a company/person to be more successful help to employ others, feed families from the wages they make, pay for health insurance which facilitates essential healthcare needs, support the community and economy, etc, etc?

When you know your identity as a Protector and can clearly see and articulate how that Identity comes through in EVERYTHING that you do, you will be amazed at how much success with pour forth into your life!

Chew on that for a bit!

Are people from Crete Creteans??

Here I am in Crete. It is a pretty cool island. It is a bit more difficult getting around, but far from impossible. Most people speak at least a little english and I have gotten very good at asking (in Greek) if they speak english. I walked around about 15 miles today. What's Your Rosebud?

  One of my favorite classic movies is: "Citizen Kane" It starred Orson Welles. [NOTE: spoiler ahead - if you haven't seen it] And, was about the life and legacy of a powerful newspaper publisher, based partly on the late William Randolph Hearst. The movie starts with Charles Foster Kane dying, with his last word being "Rosebud" — and the entire movie is this sort of question of what "Rosebud" is.
