You'll Never Believe What JUST Happened!


So, there I was sitting in my living room / office, just getting off the phone with a friend of mine, Jack Hoban. I'm getting ready to type another [Almost] Daily email, when across the street I hear...


Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!

Then a slightly different pitched...

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.... Bang!

It's not fireworks...

Yep, I sh*t you not there was a gun fight that just went down at the convince store that is kitty corner from where I am sitting. I can literally see it out my window right now.

The store's name is Four Brothers, but I lovingly named it four bros and a ho. 

Just after the event, I looked out my window to see some kid quickly  running away from the scene. 

Now there is a swarm of cops, emt's. They'll be shutting the street down soon...

(Now a couple minutes later)

Street's roped off now.  They were doing it when I snapped the picture at the top of this page.

Mason Dixon Line...

Believe it or not, I actually live in a nice area, but like many of you folks, I live on the mason / dixon line. In this case it's Alger Heights bordering Burton Heights. 

Also like many cities across the US gun and violent crimes have risen substantially. According to our police chief here in Grand Rapids, gun crime is up over 425%. His words not mine.

And like it or not, you and your loved ones could be caught right in the middle of it unexpectedly... Just like what JUST HAPPENED! 

Luckily, it was across the street, but trust me I've not always been that lucky! (Stories for other times).

All BS aside...

This is why I train and why I teach.

This is why I have the local academy and why I've built the PeaceWalker membership site... 

To have a better chance at protecting myself... a better chance at living a better life.

And to help others to do the same.

In respect to what just happened, I'm going to open the membership up for a little while if you want to join, so you can start to learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Are people from Crete Creteans??

Here I am in Crete. It is a pretty cool island. It is a bit more difficult getting around, but far from impossible. Most people speak at least a little english and I have gotten very good at asking (in Greek) if they speak english. I walked around about 15 miles today. Into town, around town, to all (and I do mean all) of their museums, archelogical sights, some cafe's and town squares. I really didn't even get lost today. Wow, I must be making some progress. What's Your Rosebud?

  One of my favorite classic movies is: "Citizen Kane" It starred Orson Welles. [NOTE: spoiler ahead - if you haven't seen it] And, was about the life and legacy of a powerful newspaper publisher, based partly on the late William Randolph Hearst. The movie starts with Charles Foster Kane dying, with his last word being "Rosebud" — and the entire movie is this sort of question of what "Rosebud" is. Turns out it was simply the trade name of a cheap little sled on which Kane was playing on the day he was taken away from his home and his mother as a child.
